EIGHT Moletjie soccer teams competed in a top-eight tournament at The Cats FC Sports Grounds last Saturday and Sunday.

Teams competed for the R4 000 in prize money.

In the first semi-final, Setati Calis FC played against Flying Birds FC and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Flying Birds won 5-4 in the penalty shoot-outs.

In the second semi-final match, Yellows FC played against The Cats FC and the game also ended in a 1-1 draw and proceeded to penalties. Yellows won the penalty shoot-out 5-3.

Flying Birds FC and Yellows FC did not play the final game due to a lack of time, but both teams walked away with R2 000.

Louis Dipela, sponsor of the tournament, said the tournament went well and he was delighted to see that rural areas still valued football.

“There is a lot of potential in rural areas and young people should continue to participate in sports.

He urged soccer scouts to consider visiting rural areas when looking for new talent.
