What sport is best suited for your kid?

There are a few key aspects to consider when helping your child choose the sport they wish to participate in

Every parent wants the best for their children, that is why they encourage them in everything they do.

However, no matter how supportive you are, children will stop doing something if they lose interest in it, whether it be their school work, a hobby or playing a sport.

Parents are therefore advised to help their children choose a sport to participate in that they are not only suited for, but thoroughly enjoy.

Here’s how:

Interests:

It is important to know what your child’s interests are. Take time to learn what interests your child most, and once they choose a sport – do as much research on the sport as possible to learn more about it.

Personality:

Another important factor to look at is your child’s personality. You must determine if they will be a good team player or do they prefer to work alone. Determine whether your child wants to work in a team to achieve a goal or prefers working by him/ herself. Not everyone can play rugby or is mentally and physically capable of playing tennis. Know which group your child falls under.

You need to consider the costs attached to the sport your child is interested in. Sport equipment, travelling, lessons etc. can become quite expensive over time. Ensure your child is serious about the sport before you spend an arm and a leg on their gear.
