Pemps’ athletes earn Limpopo colours

Three cross-country athletes from Pemps Primary School represented Limpopo during the national cross-country championships in George, Western Cape recently.

POLOKWANE – Ore Mabusela, Jolter Matsaung and Kgashane Rathupetsane qualified for the nationals after their outstanding performance during the provincial cross-country finals that took place in Tzaneen.

The three athletes received medals for participating in the nationals and Pemps cross-country coach, Mymoena Mayat, said she is elated with their performance.

According to Mayat, the national competition was not a walk in the park but her athletes proved that they can represent the province in big tournaments.

“Our athletes did exceptionally well and I see a bright future ahead of them in the sport.

“The three athletes also received their Limpopo colours during the championships,” she said.

She said it takes dedication and perseverance for one to qualify for the South African cross-country championships.

She added that this was a big achievement for the boys and believes that they will continue to work hard and make their school and their province proud.

Mayat explained it is not easy to get to the top in the sport but she is confident that her athletes will fly the South African flag high in international competitions if they continue pushing themselves.

She urged the three athletes to believe in themselves in order to achieve their goals.
