LIMPOPO – The Spur Mountain Bike League Series is an annual series of cycling events in Limpopo where learners from various schools in the province come together to test their mettle on the trails.
During the first leg of the series, Oosskool claimed the top spot in the primary schools division in the Tour de Gat in Phalaborwa with 122 points.
They were followed by Unicorn Preparatory with 46 points and PEPPS in third place with 44 points.
In the high school division, Hoërskool Louis Trichardt was ahead of the competition with 119 points. They were followed by Stanford Lake College with 79 points and Hoërskool Merensky with 64 points.
The second leg of the series, the Tour de Lake, took place on Saturday and was hosted by Stanford Lake College.
In the primary schools division, Oosskool remains undefeated with 111 points with Unicorn Preparatory in second position with 56 points and Laerskool Louis Trichardt in third place with 37 points. This leg brings the totals to 233 for Oosskool, 102 points for Unicorn Preparatory, and 78 points for PEPPS in the primary schools division.
In the high school division Hoërskool Louis Trichardt is firmly lodged in first place after accumulating 129 points. Stanford Lake College upped their game from the previous leg and finished second with 102 points with Hoërskool Merensky in third place with 55 points.
This brings the total for the high school division to 248 points for Hoërskool Louis Trichardt, 181 points for Stanford Lake College, and 119 points for Hoërskool Merensky.
The remaining two legs of the series:
• Tour de Pot – 3 September at the Zoological Gardens in Mokopane.
• Tour de Lip – 17 September at Hanglip Komatiland in Louis Trichardt.
The national final is set to take place on 8 and 9 October at Bekker High School in Magaliesburg.
