POLOKWANE – Kealeboga Talane of Pemps was awarded a bronze medal during the South African karate championships that were held at the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg recently.

Kealeboga was awarded the prize in the fighting category. Her coach, sensei Eliphus Ntata, said he was happy with Kealeboga’s performance.

“Kealeboga did exceptionally well in the tournament and this will encourage other young women to join the sport since most of them regard karate as a sport for men. Kealeboga trained hard for the tournament and her hard work paid off,” said Ntata.

He further thanked the school for the support they gave the karate club and said the karatekas were keen to make the school proud and win more medals.

Kealeboga said she was delighted to win the award and she would continue to train hard for other tournaments. She added that she had a love and passion for karate and urged young people to take part in the sport to stay fit and live a healthy lifestyle.

Among the Pemps athletes who got sport achievements is Lebone Thobejane.

She was called to the district netball trials recently and the school is certain that she will make it to the provincial trials.
