A hole in one to help dreams come true

Stanford Lake College's Dream an' Do Foundation collected more than R30 000 during a golf challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club on Friday.

POLOKWANE – Stanford Lake College’s Dream an’ Do Foundation collected more than R30 000 during a golf challenge at the Polokwane Golf Club on Friday.

More than 64 golfers took part in the golf challenge.

The money raised will be used to treat 20 less privileged children from various local communities to a five-day camp full of adventurous activities.

According to Rhoan Abbott, one of the foundation members, the money raised would enable groups of children to experience a week long programme where they would be introduced to activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, trekking and mountain biking.

The programme also covered environmental issues and conservation and culminated with the children spending a day at the Kruger National Park, he said.

“During the golf challenge, we had prizes and lucky draws in excess of R25 000, including printers from Nashua, power tools and camping gear from EH Hassim Hardware, weekend away vouchers from Magoebaskloof Hotel and Leshiba, and many more,” said Abbott.

Each golfer paid R500 to be part of the challenge, while companies paid R1 000 or more to display their banners during the challenge.
