LNW tee off at Polokwane Golf Club

Lepelle Northern Water's inaugural charity golf day raises funds for Leeuwfontein Centre, supporting over 50 elderly individuals in need.

POLOKWANE – Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) hosted a successful Charity Golf Tournament at the Polokwane Golf Club on Friday.

This was LNW’s inaugural charity golf day and saw LNW board members, executives, corporate leaders, and sponsors come together with a collective goal to establish a secure and nurturing environment that promotes the wellbeing of the elderly through this charitable tournament.

Chairperson of the LNW board, Dr Nndweleni Mphephu stated that this fundraiser will benefit Leeuwfontein Centre for the Aged and Disabled in the Ephraim Mogale Municipality which supports over 50 elders in urgent need of basic necessities. He added that this tournament will be an annual event and as LNW, they hope for continued support in making it a success.

Premier representative, MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure Ernest Rachoene said that the event is a shining example of how we, as a society, can unite across various sectors to uplift our communities.

“It is an honor to witness such corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives that are directed at the welfare of our senior citizens, the very people who have built the foundation upon which we stand today. As government, we applaud Lepelle Northern Water for this initiative. It is aligned with the guiding principle of “putting people first,” a core priority of our governing party. This charity golf day, aimed at supporting the senior citizens of the Leeuwfontein Center for the Aged and Disabled, is a powerful demonstration of their commitment to uplift our people, especially the most vulnerable among us,” he said.

The winner of the tournament was Leo Gama with a score of 45 points. He is a Handicap 10 and is a member of Euphoria Golf Estate.
