Safa Vhembe League beckons for top Musina teams

The Musina Football Association aims to develop local talent, with top teams promoted to the Safa Vhembe League, paving way for potential pro careers.

LIMPOPO – On Saturday, the first deputy president of the Safa Vhembe region, Colbert Nempumbuluni, expressed the hope that younger players from the Musina Football Association could transition from amateurs to professionals.

He highlighted the association’s role in scouting local talent and fostering their growth.

Nempumbuluni was joined by Derrick Mothibi, the chairperson of the Musina Football Association; Vuledzani Ramphabana, the third deputy chairperson; and Itani Nephawe, chairperson of the referees, at the Harvest Day ceremony held at Deb Geb’s Resort Muswodidipeni.

The event celebrated teams from three streams of the local league, which were awarded prizes and trophies.

Joe Manenzhe, secretary-general of the league, announced that R90 000 was distributed to various teams for the 2023/24 season.

Notable winners included Lwathuda Black Movers FC, which received R6 400 and a large trophy; Sanari Cross Bridge FC, awarded R6 200; and Chelamoya FC, which received R6 000.

All three teams will soon join the Safa Vhembe League.

Manenzhe encouraged teams to complete their affiliation promptly, as the next soccer season begins on October 4.

He emphasised the association’s goal of recruiting more teams and scouting younger players for potential recruitment by professional teams.

Stanley Madzhie, the manager of Lwathuda Black Movers, expressed his excitement about his team’s promotion to the Safa Vhembe League and promised to work hard to ensure the team remains competitive and does not get relegated in the upcoming season.
