Polokwane kickboxers to compete in African championship

Three kickboxers from Ring Kings Club will represent South Africa at the Wako African Continental Kickboxing Championship.

POLOKWANE – From December 9-12, three talented kickboxers from Ring Kings Club will compete at the Wako African Continental Kickboxing Championship, organised by the World African Kickboxing Confederation (WAKC).

The championship, a premier event showcasing top athletes from across the continent, will feature a variety of disciplines and weight categories.

The event also serves as a selection platform for the World Games 2025, which will be hosted in China.

Competitors will engage in various kickboxing formats, including one-point fighting, light contact, kick flight, forms, low kick, K1 rules, and full contact.

Sensei Antoinette Clarke, one of the participants, shared her excitement, saying it has been a dream of hers for the past 14 years to participate.

“When the list was announced, I was thrilled beyond words – I even did some backflips! It’s amazing to see my hard work finally paying off. I’m proud to represent Limpopo and South Africa on this stage.”

Clarke said she will be competing nationally as a kickboxer for South Africa, and she highlighted the significance of the event being hosted in South Africa this year, instead of internationally.

Alongside Clarke, Marisa Nel and Caitin van Wyk from Ring Kings Club will also participate, serving as inspirations to young and aspiring kickboxers.
