University of Limpopo student represents SA in volleyball
Rethabile was named best setter in USSA Championship and will be part of the SA team for the Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Association.

Rethabile Mphahlele (24) currently pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, third level at the University of Limpopo, took part in the University Sports South Africa (USSA) Volleyball Championship from July 1 to 5 at Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Complex.
She started playing volleyball in grade 4 when her teacher allowed the learners to choose the sports they would like to play.
Rethabile wanted to play netball but thought that her height would be a hindrance and instead chose volleyball.
She is a passionate and incredible volleyball player who is looking forward to inspiring others.
However, she highlights that she has been putting too much effort into sports, which has affected her academic results.
“I need to take volleyball as an extra activity and not make it my priority. I am trying to balance school and sports at the same time,” she said.
“Neglecting my studies and choosing volleyball used to be my biggest challenge, but now I realise that I came to varsity to study, not to have fun. I make time for volleyball because I love it more than any other sport.”
She believes that sport refreshes her mind and helps to avoid stress and depression, and that is necessary to always find a balance in academics and sport.
According to Rethabile, she is no longer a developing player.
She has made it to the top level and won an award as the best setter during the USSA Volleyball National Championship.
She will be representing team South Africa at the Confederation of Universities and Colleges Sports Association (CUCSA) from July 9 to 12.
Rethabile serves as a role model to her peers and upcoming volleyball players.
Through her unwavering dedication and unyielding belief in herself, she has risen above the doubts and limitations that sought to hold her back, proving that greatness knows no boundaries.
