Polokwane’s female golfing talent on display at nationals

Polokwane golfers represented Limpopo at the Nomads South Africa Girls Championship, showcasing their skills in a competitive field.

POLOKWANE – Four young female golfers from the Polokwane Golf Club formed part of the Limpopo Golf Union team that represented the province at the Nomads South Africa Girls Championship that took place at Sun City from July 1 to 3.

Mea Swart, Rinao Makhado, Timmezane Andrin and Vutlhari Shingange showcased their skills against 34 young golfers from various provinces.

The event was won by 2024 Nomads South Africa girls champions Charlotte Millard from Central Gauteng and the Western Cape’s Ali-Anne van Schalkwyk.

Millard (77, 77 and 73) won the championship division by three strokes and Van Schalkwyk (85, 91 and 86) clinched the silver division title by one stroke at the Gary Player Country Club.

Makhado finished the event in the silver division with a score of 92, 92 and 89, while Andrin scored 92, 85 and 93. Swart scored 93, 87 and 80 and Shingange 125, 110 and 113.

JP Ellis, operations manager at the Limpopo Golf Union said they were happy with the players’ performance at the event.

“We are still going to have more events and the selected players did well. They must keep up the good work.”
