Oosskool and Lim Lillies fine-tune skills for cricket season

The Limpopo Lillies and Oosskool competed in pre-season matches in preparation for the cricket season at the Polokwane Cricket Club.

POLOKWANE – Last week, Oosskool’s first cricket team, who will compete in the Super 12 series in Rustenburg in July, and the Limpopo Lillies played warm-up matches for the upcoming season at the Limpopo Cricket Club.

The teams played four matches in T20 format across the span of two days and players and coaches all agreed the time on the pitch and field was time well spent, identifying areas of improvement going forward.

Both teams are looking forward to the cricket season and the matches ahead.

Neo Sekokotla, head coach of the Limpopo Lillies said their matches officially start in September and that last week’s time on the field was very valuable.

“We have lined up a lot of friendly matches before September. In our matches against Oosskool, our team just came from the off-season break and there is a lot of work to be done. It is still early days. We need to sharpen up on our bowling, batting and fielding.”

Oosskool’s first team coach Heinrich Schoeman said they were grateful for the two days’ practice and that the players used the opportunity well to sharpen their skills.

“We are looking forward to the cricket season and the upcoming Super 12 series, and are confident that the boys will perform well.”
