Golf club’s Desi dedicates championship to her father

Desi Earle daughter of the late Raymond Earle dedicated her 30th Club Championship to her father and described him as a role model and an ambassador of the game.

POLOKWANE – Top women’s golfer Desi Earle dedicated her 30th Club Championship to her late father, Raymond Earle who passed away last year.

The veteran golfer, who manages the Polokwane pro-shop, won the championship on March 16 at the Polokwane Golf Club, beating myriads of golfers.

She described her father as a role model and an ambassador of the game.

“He passed away last year. He was a professional golfer and the one who introduced me to golf. He was everything to me and I miss him a lot.

“I miss his golfing acumen and tips. Before every round he would call me and share tips and wish me well. I was playing for him. It is difficult not having him around, not having anyone to call before every game.

“I believe he is proud of my achievements, he is my guardian angel.”

She said she was happy to have won the championship. “This is a special feat for me.

“It was worth the fight, it was intense, I was nervous, because I was playing against good players but it only took one shot to win.”

She is currently preparing for the upcoming Limpopo Championship which will be held in Hoedspruit.

She thanked the Polokwane Golf Club groundsmen for ensuring the course is in pristine condition.”I want to thank the greenkeeper for the good work they are doing on the course.

“It looks amazing and golfers enjoy their golf here.”
