Limpopo Impalas outplay Mpumalanga Rhinos by 48 runs

The match was attended by cricket supporters from Seshego, Nirvana, Mankweng and Polokwane who came with their families and friends to rally behind the team.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Impalas beat Mpumalanga Rhinos with 48 runs to win the second division match of Cricket South Africa held at Polokwane Cricket Grounds on September 30.

Impalas won the toss and decided to bat first and they were able to accrue 296 runs while Rhinos secured 248 runs.

Tommy Phiri, chief executive officer of Limpopo Impala Cricket said they have a good team that can win any match in the league.

”We are proud of the team’s performance, they did well. We need to win matches in order to qualify for the first division. Our coach, Gordon Parsons has had a great impact on the players since his arrival at the team. He has brought a lot of comradery to the team. Everyone gets along and he is in full control. The team looks promising and we are fired up to win all our matches.”

Phiri said he is happy to see some Limpopo born players performing well.”We have the likes of Don Radebe, Morné Venter and Eldred Hawken who are originally from the province and doing well. Morné was named batsmen of the year in our awards ceremony and we are happy to have local talent in the team.”
