Wolves United Para Volleyball team seeks sponsorships
Sports wheelchairs will not only improve the team's mobility but also encourage other disabled athletes to live beyond their imagination.
POLOKWANE – Members of the Wolves United Para Volleyball team are requesting the public to assist with sport kit as a form of sponsorship.
The team is located in Polokwane, and they use the Nirvana Sports Ground as their base.
According to one of the players, Betuel Sekgwele, the team comprises more than 25 determined players who do not allow their disability to stop them from participating in sport and being active members of society.
A shortage of sport kit and proper wheelchairs, however, remains their biggest challenge.
“When we practice every day, we use our normal wheelchairs and it becomes a problem when we participate in big competitions where we are supposed to use sports wheelchairs.”
Sports wheelchairs will not only improve their mobility, but also encourage other disabled athletes to live beyond their imagination, he said.
“We want to motivate others living with disabilities that their disability does not define them.
“Being disabled does not mean that one cannot participate in sport or be a productive member of society.”
