Rufus Photo prepares for world championship in India

The 43-year-old veteran runner said he will participate in various local marathons in the province before the international showpiece.

POLOKWANE – Rufus Photo settled for second position in the Konka Farm 20km Trail Run held in Rustenburg on August 26.

Photo competed with top runners from local as well as faraway clubs, such as other African countries.

The fifth-placed Comrades Marathon winner said he ran the marathon to prepare for the 50km world championship set for India in November.

“I was chosen for the South African Marathon team that will represent the country at the world championships so I need to prepare well for that event. I need to participate more in tempo runs and Konka marathon was one of them.”

The 43-year-old veteran runner said he will participate in various local marathons in the province before the international showpiece.

“In September I will be in Saselamani village Bushbuckridge where I will take part in the 21km marathon. From Saselamani I will travel to Mashusumale in Phalaborwa in October to participate in the 10km local marathon in that area. I just want to be in top shape before November and I am aiming to do well in those events.”
