Gordon Parsons announced as head coach of Limpopo Impalas

With over 30 years of coaching experience at both first-class and international levels, LIC CEO Tommy Phiri said that they are happy to have Parsons on board.

POLOKWANE – Former Lions bowling coach Gordon Parsons was announced as the head coach of Limpopo Impala on August 16.

Parsons takes over from Dumisa Makalima who left the Union earlier this after joining them in 2021.

The 63-year-old mentor played 689 first-class and list-A matches in his career between England, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

He ended his playing career with 1 165 first class and list A wickets and scored 8 704 runs during these matches.

His coaching career started in 1983 when he coached Paul Roos High School until 1986.

With over 30 years of coaching experience at both first-class and international levels, some of his coaching jobs include Pakistan u/19 bowling coach; head coach for Al Masafi Amo Sharks in Afghanistan, and bowling consultative and marketing of overseas sports teams for North West University.

Tommy Phiri, CEO of Limpopo Impala Cricket said they are happy to have Parsons on board.

“We had many candidates for the post, including Paul Adams, the former South African spinner, but we were impressed by Gordon Parsons’s CV.

“His experience in development cricket will help us achieve our goal of producing more cricketers in the province.”

Parsons said he is happy to be part of the Limpopo Impala Cricket team.

“I am happy to join the team and share my cricket knowledge with the players. The beauty of the game is that you can never master it. It is important to learners everyday, understand the players and ensure they have everything they need to perform.”
