Refurbished cricket nets to boost player performance in Limpopo

CEO of Limpopo Impala Cricket Union Tommy Phiri wants to open the new upgraded nets to the public as there are many talented players in the city.

POLOKWANE- The CEO of Limpopo Impala Cricket Union, Tommy Phiri believes the newly refurbished cricket nets at the Polokwane Cricket Club are a welcome addition to boost player performance.

The union started with refurbishments in April and completed the project in June.

“We are happy to have finally completed the project. We wanted a quality training facility and our fields to be a hub for South African cricket.”

He said the nets will be open to use by the public too.

“We have a lot of talented players in the city and we want to accommodate them. They are welcome to use the facility.”

He added that the upgrades were done in line with Cricket South Africa standards.

“We have made progress in many areas identified for upgrades, with regard to an electronic scoreboard, a scorers box and the quality of the outfield. Plans are also at an advanced stage to expand the changing rooms to meet Cricket South Africa’s hosting standards to the gating or turnstiles system. We appeal to local business and sponsors to come on board to assist Limpopo Impala Cricket.”

Phiri said they will announce the coach for the men’s team in due course following the departure of Dumisa Makalima.

“We are currently looking for a new coach and an announcement will be made once we have news.”
