Kaizer Chiefs to play three matches in Polokwane

Manthlako Sebaka, manager of the Polokwane Municipality, believes that these matches will be a drawcard for visitors and boost the local economy.

POLOKWANE- African football giants, Kaizer Chiefs will play three PSL matches at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex in the upcoming 2023/24 season which starts in August, Manthlako Sebaka, manager for sport and recreation at Polokwane Municipality, confirmed.

He said these matches will surely be a drawcard for visitors, and boost the local economy.

“At the moment we can’t disclose which fixtures will be played here, but Kaizer Chiefs will play three matches at the stadium.

“The football community and business community will definitely benefit from these matches.”

He added that the newly promoted Polokwane City Football Club will play 11 official matches at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, and four matches at the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex.

Sebaka said they have ruled out the possibility of hosting international soccer matches at the stadium.

The last time the stadium hosted international soccer matches was when the African Cup of Nations qualifier between Bafana Bafana and Congo in 2014 and African Nation Championships matches were played in the same year.

“We can’t rule out anything, but currently we don’t have anything scheduled.”
