NMS’ Yusha wins gold at Discovery Run Series

Gr 11 learner Yusha Khan Patel said he would use the cash prize presented to him to take his parents to lunch.

POLOKWANE- Yusha Khan Patel, a Gr 11 learner from Northern Muslim School won the gold in the Discovery Vitality Run Series recently held in Gauteng.

He competed with runners from various clubs in the country.

“It was a good race. I won it in a time of 02:11:27. This is a result of all the hard work I have put in since the beginning of the year.”

He said he would use the cash prize presented to him to take his parents out to lunch.

Takura Warinda, the principal of the school, said they believe they have a potential Comrades Marathon runner and winner in Yusha.

“This is the essence of excellence we strive for as a school. Congratulations to him, he has done well. We are proud to see our children participating in national events. Yusha is one of the top learners in the school. He is good academically, he plays tennis, he is well behaved and he is religiously grounded. He is an all-rounder and excellent ambassador of the school.”

Warinda said the school will stage their inter-house athletics meeting at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on September 9.

“We want to kick-start our athletics season by starting with the inter-house meeting. The event is open to all learners at the school and we anticipate a good day.”
