Run4Cancer marathon to be hosted in Polokwane in October

Runners will exchange paces from the Peter Mokaba Stadium to Boyne in the 49km event, while there will also be a 10km, 21km and 5km fun run set around the stadium precinct.

POLOKWANE – Runners from various clubs in the city are expected to participate in the SA Run4Cancer marathon, scheduled in Polokwane for October 28.

The runners will exchange paces from the Peter Mokaba Stadium to Boyne in the 49km event, while there will also be a 10km, 21km and 5km fun run set around the stadium precinct.

Speaking at the official launch of the marathon in Polokwane recently, Sport MEC Nakedi Kekana said the department aims to create awareness around cancer and early detection of the illness.

“The department is committed to support cancer awareness programmes as it looks to foster social cohesion and recreational activities. Cancer is eating away at our society and an awareness campaign should go a long way in ensuring that citizens live longer.”

Expected at the event is the 2023 Comrades Marathon fifth place winner, Rufus Photo, Johannes Mosehla, the oldest Comrades finisher, top runners from clubs in the city as well as runners from the Southern African Development Community regions.
