Top 10 finish for Senzo at Junior Golf Championship

POLOKWANE – The 10-year-old Senzo Sebokedi from Ga-Moeti outside Seshego ended ninth out of 40 amateur golfers when he participated in the second annual junior golf championship held at Koro Creek earlier in July.
The legacy programme of the annual Limpopo championship, co-sanctioned by the Sunshine Tour, is a one-day golf extravaganza featuring 40 junior amateur golfers from across Limpopo and is played on one of the best golf courses in the region.
Christian Laubscher emerged as the champion for the 2023 Limpopo Championship Youth Tournament with Seibert van der Lith as runner-up, and Jaudrian Moolman in third spot. The three will also be invited to take part in the ProAm during the next edition of the Limpopo Championship, held in 2024.
The event was made possible by Limpopo Tourism Agency and Pareto Properties.
Agency CEO, Moses Ngobeni said they want young golfers in the province to get exposure in golf.
“We support developmental golf days as it encourages young golfers from all five districts of the province to participate. The next edition of the tournament should also include the girl players. We will ensure that the top three winners of this tournament next year become part of the Limpopo Championship to play with professionals. We thank our partners for supporting our vision for this development golf tournament for the youths of our province.”
He thanked the partners who came on board for supporting their vision for the event.
Senzo’s dad and coach, Ketso Sebokedi said he is very proud of his achievement.
“When we started this project at Ga-Moeti, Senzo wanted to play with other kids. He has been playing golf since when we were based in Gauteng, when we came to Limpopo, he said he wanted children from these areas to learn and understand the basics of golf. He has truly done his part in this championship, as Koro Creek is not an easy course.”
He said any day after school, you will find Senzo working on his chipping skills.
“We have a small section at the back of the house where he has about four metres of practice. At this point, whether he wins or loses is not important. We work on the basics first.”
