Fists fly at Makhado LFA match

Vhutshilo 'Gwasda' Nedzamba was given his marching orders for using profanities towards the referee and the incident escalated with Tshiozwi United players and fans confronting the referee.

LIMPOPO- Fist flew during the Makhado LFA match between Tshiozwi United and Ravele Highlanders at the Gogobole grounds on Sunday, with the match ending prematurely shortly after the referee was assaulted.

Highlanders took the lead in the 20 minute, but the referee, Vhulenda Mukoki was attacked after the goal was scored and a United player accused him of favouritism, as they believed the goal was scored from an offside position.

Fists flew and the lone referee was rescued by fans who intervened. He then stopped the match.

According to Highlands manager, Tshamato Buasi, his team scored what he described as the goal of the day.

League chairperson, Freddy Phathela, confirmed the receipt of the referee’s report regarding the incident and indicated that United will soon be summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee to answer to the charges relating to the assault of the referee and the abandonment of the game.
