Retha van der Merwe, the chairperson of Limpopo Sanesa, said they had four core league qualifiers during the year of which the third qualifier was held on May 27.

She stressed that the aim is to compete in at least three qualifiers to be chosen for the Limpopo team that will represent the province at a national level at the end of the year.

Da-Lein Gee warms up her horse.

“The core league qualifier had two days of competition, the Saturday was our showing classes and Sunday our showjumping classes. We had 243 entries for this weekend with 74 horses. The venue, The Ranch Equestrian Centre, has a world class facility and we are very fortunate to have such a venue in Limpopo. We had a very successful Q3 and our second day was busy and eventful, but the riders rode beautifully and we had some amazing showjumping. All riders were respectful and encouraged other riders. We are very proud of our Limpopo riders.”

She called on parents to bring their children to the organisation to sharpen the riding skills and have the opportunity to compete with other riders.
