POLOKWANE – The chairperson of the Limpopo Sports Confederationn (LSC), Ria Ledwaba said the idea to build fan parks in the province ahead of the Netball World Cup is to celebrate local players and have supporters from all over South Africa.
The Netball World Cup will be hosted in Cape Town in 2023 and plans are in place to build fan parks in the three participating Limpopo players’ home towns.
“We hope for communities across Limpopo to have access to netball courts and football pitches in the future and we would like to see families and people in the community watching games and supporting South Africa. This will also encourage parents to support their children in the sport of their choice,” Ledwaba said.

LSC said they want to establish community-based fan parks where players from the province will be celebrated and acknowledged during their games and the intiative is headed by President Ally Pole.
“We want to acknowledge how well women from Limpopo and in general are excelling in netball, rugby, cricket and football and we hope they will be celebrated by their respective communities,” Pole said.
Ledwaba said LSC has committed to making women a priority and the idea of the fan parks is a step in the right direction.
“LSC is in the process of applying for funding and sponsors for these fan parks,” she said.
