POLOKWANE – Moletjie Rugby Club’s developing team participated in a Blue Bulls Rugby Union tournament hosted at Noordelikes Rugby Club on Saturday.
They went head-to-head against teams from Amandelbult Rugby Club, Noodelikes as well as WesTax Rugby Club. Tournament director Ignatious Semenya told BONUS that Moletjie Rugby Club and the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, along with Phuti Funeral Ministry joined forces to enhance and expose undiscovered talent in rural areas.
“This is one of the most important rugby events for Moletjie Rugby Club as it showcases the skills and talent in the province. Moletjie is one of the clubs that had both women and men who competed in the tournament. It is worth mentioning that our women’s rugby is growing with an encouraging pace,” Semenya said.
He added it was pleasing to notice the improvement and quality of the game and the skills displayed during the tournament.
“Our teams started to compete rather than just to participate as it used to be in the past. We focused a lot on how the coaches prepare and guide their teams during games and I must say we were all impressed with the level of coaching,” he said.
The Limpopo Blue Bulls president of black clubs, Zani Ndaba said: “I’m impressed by two players from Moletjie who will play for Amandelbult next year. We will announce their names soon.”
