[PHOTOS] Golfers battle it out in search of glory

The Polokwane Golf Club hosted 105 players for an individual stableford match on August 13.

POLOKWANE – In this format, points are awarded based on the amount of strokes played at each hole as compared to the overall number of strokes played.

Two club players of the day were Ben Bronkhorst, Azahar Suliman, Len Baker and Thabo Shingange.
Andries Linde drew the jackpot for holes three, nine, 12 and 17, but there were no winners.

Polokwane Observer spoke to Patrick Molepo and Raymond Mushaike, who played with Memezi Dlamini, about their experience on the day.

Molepo explained how he thought he could have played better than his opponent, who beat him by four points. “Although he beat me, I don’t think I played poor golf today, but I could have done a little better,” he shared.

Mushaike said he played better than his opponents because he determined to beat them on the day. “There were a lot of good players who played stunning golf, but I managed to play better golf than many of my opponents today. I am proud of my performance.”

Despite a good round of golf, Mushaike failed to end in the top three.

Results:
1. Kobus Geeringh with 40 points.
2. Calie Swart with 39 points.
3. Freek Schutte with 38 points count-in.
