Traditional leaders such as Makhado Mayor Ruth Makhuvhele, principals from various schools, as well as various pastors were in attendance.

Chavani explained that the foundation focuses on education, sport and the development of rural economics. “The foundation will award bursaries to primary and high school learners. As we receive more money, we will award bursaries to university students as well,” he said.

Chavani added he felt there was a need to start a fund to assist these indigent learners to further their education. “Our community feels the burden of poverty, unemployment and illiteracy.

Apart from assisting the rural villagers, the foundation will extend its services to the whole Vhembe area as soon as we raise enough money,” he said.

Pastor Lucky Maluleke congratulated Chavani and said: “The launch of foundation shows the doors of learning are wide open to all.”

Makhubele said she was happy with the formation of the foundation and praised Chavani for ploughing back into the education of those in the rural villages.
