Limpopo teams to take Bulls challenge by the horns

Two teams from Limpopo will compete in the Northern Platinum Platteland Challenge at Loftus Versfeld.

POLOKWANE – In a play to expose players to more opportunities, the Blue Bulls Rugby Union (BBRU) announced a Northern Platinum Platteland Challenge.

The challenge is set to be played at Loftus Versfeld on September 3 and four teams will be in action on the day.

According to Bulls president Willem Strauss, the teams will be made up of the best players from the president, reserve and Limpopo leagues.

“Northam Platinum is a brilliant new sponsor of the BBRU that helps us to grow the amateur game,” Strauss explained.

He told Review that Limpopo will have two teams: North (players from the Limpopo North League such as Kruinie Rugby Club and Potties Rugby Club) and South (players from the Waterberg League).

“They will face a Bulls Platteland and Bulls Platteland Invitational team respectively. The challenge is there to create more pathways to bigger teams for these players, as well as to reward excellence for players and coaches who excelled in their league,” Strauss shared.

He noted that the BBRU are committed to create opportunities for players in their club rugby system. “I can’t think there are other unions that create these many opportunities for their players. Jake White and I will be in attendance for the matches and who knows – we might see the next Bulls prop in action!” he exclaimed.
