Limpopo’s Banyana Banyana players to receive R100 000 each
The MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture Thandi Moraka also presented the five players with provincial blazers and urged them to continue making the province and nation proud.
POLOKWANE – Limpopo-born Banyana Banyana players Hilda Magaia, Noko Matlou, Nomvula Kgoale, Lebogang Ramalepe and Amogelang Motau will each receive R100 000 from the provincial Department of Sport, Arts and Culture for winning the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in Morocco.
MEC Thandi Moraka made the announcement at a welcome-home breakfast for the players at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World on Thursday (July 28).
“You are our children. The little we are giving you is coming from the bottom of our hearts. If we had more, we would increase what we are giving you,” she said.
Moraka also presented the players with provincial blazers and urged them to continue making the province and nation proud.
“I would like to take this opportunity and congratulate all the players for a job well done. This is really encouraging, and it shows that we have pure talent in the country and the province. I would also like to thank each and every supporter who rallied behind Banyana Banyana in conquering the African continent. You have made history in the continent of Africa and made history for South Africa, what a gift to give the country. Thank you for putting our province on the map,” Moraka said.

She added that Banyana Banyana’s historic 2-1 win over hosts Morocco in the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nation final in Rabat on July 23 brought nothing but unity and jubilation in the sporting fraternity.
“These trailblazers are indeed an inspiration to the up and coming football players,” she concluded.
