Black Leopards to play home matches at revamped Malamulele Stadium

Leopards played their home matches of the 2021/22 season at Peter Mokaba Stadium after a fallout with the Thulamela Municipality, who owns the Thohoyandou Stadium, over the R27 000 per match fee to play at the stadium.

POLOKWANE – The Vhembe-based team, Black Leopards, will play their home matches of the upcoming Motsepe Foundation Championship at the revamped Malamulele Stadium.

Premier Soccer League senior official Prof Ronnie Schloss paid the stadium a visit on July 19, to confirm that the stadium is in a suitable condition to host these matches.

Schloss initially inspected the stadium in January and asked the team and Collins Chabane Municipality to repair the pitch and the dressing rooms.

Municipal spokesperson Robert Mathye confirmed to CV that their team worked around the clock to ensure the stadium is ready for the 2022/23 season that starts in September.

“I am satisfied with the progress that has been made,” he said and added that there are plans to further improve the stadium in the coming years.

Their training also takes place in the Collins Chabane municipal area, as it is held at the Saselamani Stadium.

Leopards chairman David Thidiela said he is glad the municipality managed to complete the needed work.

He added that their move to the stadium will benefit the hawkers around the area as they will be able to sell their products at the stadium during matches.
