Tskkia-Tokon karatekas brag with belts after grading ceremony

Karatekas participated in kihon (basics) and kumite (fighting) and started with a 5km run before their grading commenced.

POLOKWANE – Tskkia-Tokon Samurai Karate karatekas showed their skills at their recent grading session.

The grading session was held at the Nirvana sport grounds and karatekas had to undergo a gruelling session of physical fitness.

Their endurance, skills, perseverance and strength were tested with the aim to challenge their abilities to overcome all challenges set before them.

Karatekas participated in kihon (basics) and kumite (fighting) and started with a 5km run before their grading commenced.

Three karatekas graded to brown belts, which was one of the toughest challenges on the day. They gave it their all and passed to take them one step closer to the coveted black belt (shodan).

Founder and owner sensei Fazlin Jardien told Polokwane Observer that the karatekas did well at in the four-hour physical session.

“They showed exceptional strength of character and amazing effort in the tasks placed before them. They pushed through the pain and did not take breaks, and that makes me extremely proud of each of them. Our goal as TSSKIA is to assist karatekas to always strive to do their best in all aspects of their lives. This is one way we help create great leaders.”

TSKKIA karatekas boast with their Kyu certificates.

She expressed special gratitude to senseis Nuraan Jardien, Maheer Adams and Wafiq Adams who put in extra effort to get the karatekas ready for the grading.

Karatekas who graded:

• Yellow belt: Akani and Nkateko Mkansi, Isaiah More, Mpho Ramaselele and Thlolo Ramaselele and Mika-eel Jardien.
• Orange belt: Mehreen Patel and Dimpho Ramaselele.
• Green belt: Alisha Patel.
• Blue belt: Sheza Abbas, Asiya May, Zoya Patel and Aqeel Jardien.
• Red belt: Wasif May and Sultan-Ali Umata.
• Brown belt: Akhilesh Ishwarlall (level 1), Naeelah Jardien (level 2) and Bonolo Chauke (level 2).
