POLOKWANE – Mzanzi Athletics Club runner Casious Nkuna says his recent 50km journey from Paledi Mall in Mankweng to the Seshego Circle Centre was under the theme ‘one man, one mission’.

He said even though his fitness levels were challenged, the plight of needy children spurred him on.

“I had difficulty along the route due to two years of limited training and I had to continuously motivate myself during the long route. I had to remind myself that I have done it before and I can still do it. I slowed down towards the end but to ease the challenge I refueled throughout. My wife and son were there all the way to support me,” Nkuna concluded.

Richard Bilisi, chairperson of Mzansi Athletics Club encouraged other athletes to follow suit and do more community work.

“The club is not only a running club, but a socially responsible one. Social responsibility and empowerment is one of our key objectives and we would love to see more athletes embarking on initiatives like this.”
