Friendly badminton action on Polokwane courts

The Limpopo Badminton Association kicked off their season with a series of friendly matches in Polokwane on February 11 and 12.

POLOKWANE – The matches saw players from badminton clubs from Polokwane, Louis Trichardt, Waterberg and Phalaborwa exchanging the shuttlecock and lethal serves at the Polokwane indoor badminton court.

The players’ representative at the association, Zara Roy said they will select a team that will represent the province at the upcoming badminton u/19 national championship scheduled for July in Bloemfontein.

“We had about 40 players from different badminton clubs in the province on the day who were so excited to return to the courts after two years. These were the first games of the season and we hope to come out with a good squad that can deliver at the national event.”

She added that they will have more matches in the upcoming months to select senior teams for the South African Melville Cup which is set to take place in October in Cape Town as well as South African Woodroffe Cup also penciled for October in Bloemfontein.
