Neil Rathman clinches 2022 Soutpansberg Open

The open was played in an individual stableford format and he won with scores of 78 (day one) and 71 (day two).

LIMPOPO – Ever since local golfer Neil Rathman was introduced to golf at the age of seven, he makes sure to take a few swings regularly.

Neil is a scratch golfer, and has played for the Limpopo team for the last seven years. A scratch player is known to be a highly skilled golfer who usually scores par or better on the course.

“I grew up in a golf household and never really considered another sport. I have two children, but only the youngest looks like he wants to follow in my footsteps.”

Neil took part in the Soutpansberg Open 2022, which was held in Louis Trichardt on January 16.

The open was played in an individual stableford format and he won with scores of 78 (day one) and 71 (day two).

“I like the competitiveness of golf and play at least once a week. I love to play with my good friend Jannie Bronkhorst who supports me. We make a good team.”

As the owner of Toshiba Limpopo, Neil is the proud sponsor of the Toshiba Cup.

He likes to sponsor Mokopane’s course and always tries to give back to the communities of Mokopane and Polokwane.

“My advice to other players is to practice hard. Practice makes perfect and makes your game better. It was a nice feeling to have won the Soutpansberg Open as it was my first tournament in a long time. I made up some points to get into the Limpopo team.”

Neil is married to Caryn. In his free time, he enjoys driving 4×4 in the bushveld.
