Pietersburg Road Runners – come run with us

In their quest to grow their club and encourage a healthy lifestyle among citizens, Pietersburg Road Runners members have called on others to join.

POLOKWANE – The club was established in 2008 with 40 members and currently boasts a total of 120 loyal members.

Colinda Potgieter, secretary for the club, said they aim to revive the club and increase their membership. “The numbers dwindled after the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. We currently have 100 members and we aim to increase the figure by March.”

She stressed they are a family-oriented club which caters for athletes and walkers and that they want to expand their walkers’ division. “We invite anyone interested in improving their level of fitness in an inexpensive way, to contact us as soon as possible. If you join Pietersburg Road Runners, you will enjoy open air training, Wednesday’s club activities, Saturday’s organised training events as well as support at road races.”

She added they have already started with their training programme for the Comrades Marathon scheduled for August 28 in KwaZulu-Natal. “We will be represented by a large number of athletes from the club. Our preparations are well underway and we train in groups every week. We are hopeful that they will do well at the event.”

Anyone interested to join can contact Colinda on 082 898 8341.
