Mckyla is excited to share her expertise

Multi-award winning fencer and a member of Polokwane Firebird Fencing Club, Mckyla Nel secured her place in the International Fencing Federation to hone her coaching skills.

POLOKWANE – Mckyla will embark on a 12-month fencing programme from February in Johannesburg where she will equip herself with the latest fencing skills in order to become a certified fencing coach.

The 18-year-old Hoërskool Pietersburg alma mater said she looks forward to the coaching course.

“I am excited because this course will also give me the power to teach and express myself as fencer and coach. Fencing has given so much and exposed me to the finer things in life. I can’t wait to complete the course and come back home to share my expertise with young fencers.”

Limpopo Fencing Association chairperson, Renuka Ramroop, said her qualification will mean a lot for fencing as a sport in the province.

“It is always good to have certified coaches in the province and we wish her all the best in her journey. She is a good fencer and a lot of young fencers will benefit immensely from her expertise once she completes the course.”
