Novices welcome to join Polokwane Bowls Club

The business league will restart in February and local companies and business entities are encouraged to participate.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane Bowls Club hosted the singles novices challenge event which saw new beginners take each other on at the club on December 8.

Evelyn Cloete, secretary of the club, said the event’s primary goal was to give the new players an opportunity to test their skills against other novices.

“We had a lot of players on the day who enjoyed exploring the sport and playing against each other. They created a competitive atmosphere where they challenged each other to see where their strengths and weaknesses are.”

She also added they had a coach on the day who was eager to help the new players with all the basics in order for them to start competing on a higher level. Cloete announced that the Limpopo Interdistrict teams will travel to Johannesburg on January 15 to play against the Johannesburg Bowls Association.

“This is the first major event of the year and we look forward to it. After this one we will move to Mpumalanga to compete against Mpumalanga teams in preparation for the Interdistricts Bowls competition in March.”

She added the business league will restart in February and local companies and business entities are encouraged to participate.

“We hope for more participation this year. We want to grow the league and give employees from local companies a firsthand experience of the sporting code so they can challenge each other on a social and competitive level,” concluded Cloete.
