DanceSport chairperson position for Mahapa
Molatelo Mahapa, deputy chairperson of Capricorn District Sport Confederation, was elected as the Chairperson of the Equality Commission by the World DanceSport Federation Presidium in December 2021.
POLOKWANE – The World DanceSport Federation Presidium is the umbrella body of DanceSport across the world and a member of the International Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
Mahapa became the first chairperson of the Equality Commission and the first African to be part of the leadership committee at the presidium level.
She is a lawyer by profession and also a chairperson of the Capricorn Academy of Sport and said she is happy to occupy the top position in the DanceSport federation.
“This is history made as South Africa and Africa will be leading the global dance community in equality and transformation. I was happy and overwhelmed at the same time.
“It took me by surprise, and this shows that anything is possible through dedication and perseverance. I look forward to the new adventure and I am ready to make the best of it.”
