LPSKKA karatekas win big at local karate tournament

Sensei Pieter Bronkhorst from the Limpopo Sports Karate Kickboxing Academy believes his young and enthusiastic karatekas have the potential of dominating local and national karate competitions.

POLOKWANE – The katetekas won a total of 48 medals at the Clash of the Dragons karate tournament, held in Polokwane on November 6.

Bronkhorst says he is pleased with strides made by the karatekas since the formation of the club two years ago.

“That was our first major tournament since we started and we are happy with their overall performance.

“They have done well, they have won 17 bronze, 11 silver and 20 gold medals at the event and that is encouraging. They were also bestowed with a trophy for displaying the best unisan kata of the day. This is one of our biggest achievements thus far and we are aiming for more medals from other competitions.”

He mentioned that they have started with the preparations for the karate grading tournament set for Polokwane on November 27.

“We will be represented by 45 karatekas on the day. It is a strong team and they will execute all styles well in the event.”
