Reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions and the newly crowned MTN8 champions Mamelodi Sundowns recently showcased the MTN 8 trophy at Mall of the North.

POLOKWANE – The Pretoria based outfit won the trophy in October after they beat Cape Town City 3-2 in the final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, after which they decided to bring the trophy to to their myriads of supporters and fans in Polokwane on November 12.

The event gave the club’s fans from different regions in Limpopo an opportunity to get a glimpse of the trophy, pose for photographs and interact with the club’s officials. Daniel Mudau, ambassador of the club, said with the move they wanted to give fans from Polokwane an opportunity to get a feel of the trophy and celebrate the feat with them. “This trophy has eluded us for almost 12 years and we wanted the fans to enjoy the success with us.”

Limpopo Tourism Agency spokesperson Mike Tauatsoala said they were happy to welcome Sundowns in Polokwane and urged other PSL clubs outside the province to come to Polokwane and parade the trophies they won in the league.

“There is so much more to enjoy in Limpopo. We invite the teams to come and experience our province when they go on recess at the end of the season as there are various activities that will suit them including hiking trails in the beautiful scenery.”
