Locals know how to solve a Rubik’s cube

Competitors between the ages of eight and 52 participated in the Rubik's Cube competition at Ambiance Restaurant over the weekend.

POLOKWANE – This competition is designed to challenge cube solvers, as this fast-emerging sport demands focus, concentration and patience.

Judges for the day were Johan Venter, who is the founder and organiser of the competition, and his sister Dederé. Drienie Venter is Johan’s mother and mentor in the sport. She said this competition is the second one they’ve hosted at the restaurant thus far and both were a success. “We appreciate all the competitors who were part of the competition.”

Winners:

1. Johan Venter with 24.58 seconds.

2. Jan-Hendrik Hoogendyk with 35.57 seconds.

3. Jonathan Marais with 38.35 seconds.
