Zanis gymnasts leap for medals

Zanis gymnasts from the Zanis branches in Polokwane, Tzaneen, Hoedspruit and Vivo competed at the Limpopo Virtual Championships.

POLOKWANE – The championships were held on August 26 and 28 and September 2 and 3, and the gymnasts competed in artistic, rhythmic as well as trampoline gymnastics.

“Our gymnasts did incredibly well and adjusted to the new norm of competition format due to Covid-19 restrictions. Videos were taken of the gymnasts and judged online by judges from across Limpopo,” said head coach Zani Prinsloo.

Gymnasts who qualified received Limpopo colours, while higher level gymnasts from level 4 to 7 will represent Limpopo at the National Gym Games in Pretoria on October 1-10.

“The gymnasts took home 134 medals, which is an incredible performance by these very talented gymnasts. Medals for level 1-3 gymnasts were awarded according to each gymnast’s total with gold being the highest. Gymnasts from level 4 to 7 received medals according to podium finishes.”

Of these medals, 77 were gold, 41 were silver and 16 were bronze. “We are so proud of all our gymnasts and coaches.”
