Impala players ready to compete

Limpopo Impala Cricket senior men's team head coach Dumisa Makalima says his team is ready to compete for top honours in the upcoming Cricket South Africa's Provincial T20 Knockout.

POLOKWANE – Makalima spoke at the LIC players launch held in Polokwane on September 17.

The Limpopo side will play Eastern Cape Linyathi, Warriors and the Rocks in their opening matches of the competition from October 4 in Kimberley.

“The aim is to do well in the competition. We have prepared well and the players are ready to compete. We had a camp in Gauteng last week where we played against teams and we did well.”

Captain Nqam Mtabozuko said the spirits are high in the camp and they are aiming for glory. “We have been working hard as a team and we are ready for the tournament.”

In his good luck message, LIC CEO Tommy Phiri said the team members are geared to win all the matches in the competition.

“They have been working hard together as a unit. This is an opportunity for them to create history for themselves.”

The T20 knockout is one of the two T20 tournaments that will feature as part of the 2021/22 domestic season with a premium T20 competition scheduled for later this season.

The team comprises Morné Venter, Ludwig Kaestner, Bruce Shuburi, Nyiko Shikwambana, Amir Bux, Nofal Malcolm, Ntokozo Mahlaba, Langa Sithembile, Rapelego Thamsanqa, Thomas Hobson, Don Radebe, Khaif Patel, Sahil Patel Nqam Mtabozuko, Atwell Mokgolobotho, Chris Mathebula and Juandre Scheepers.
