TSKKIA sensei pass black belt grading

Four karatekas; sensei Maheer and Wafiq Adams and Nuraan and Fazlin Jardien travelled to Rustenburg last week for their official grading.

POLOKWANE – Not even blood, sweat or tears could stop the karatekas from TSKKIA Tokon Samurai grading to black belts.

Tokon Shotokan Karate Ken & Iai Jitsu Academy (TSKKIA) is the parent club of Tokon Samurai Karate.

They had to participate in a three-hour theoretical exam, physical test as well as showcase their knowledge of the self-defence art.

“It was a gruelling exercise where we lost the skin of our knuckles, but we powered through and we displayed our mettle and achieved the goal.”

Fazlin is the owner of Tokon Samurai Karate and said she is proud of the achievements of the fellow karatekas.

“As a sensei it was a proud moment for me to see my team do their best as I motivated them. The culmination of the weekend was where they had to do tameshiwari tile break to signify them overcoming all odds and breaking through barriers and obstacles set in their path. They passed with flying colours. For the first time in our academy’s history, a pair of two sisters and a pair of two brothers achieved their black belt levels together.”
