Vondwe XI Bullets too strong for Hungry Lions in playoffs

Vondwe XI Bullets were too strong with their 3-1 win over the Vuka Hungry Lions during the SAB Limpopo promotional playoff match at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday.

LIMPOPO – The referee flashed the first yellow card only 10 minutes into the game after the Lions’ Tshepo Mohale obstructed Rotondwa Ramela just outside the box.

Bullets missed an easy scoring opportunity in the 17th minute.

The centre forward, Mukandangalo Nemutudi, could not believe his eyes when his volley hit the woodwork and landed outside the field of play for a goal kick.

Not long after this, Vhugala Negondeni’s close-range ground cutter missed the goal by inches.

Bullets gained momentum and started to control the match. Rotondwa Ramela opened the score in the 38th minute.

Bullets came close to scoring again three minutes into the second half. Emmanuel Gundula unleashed from the left corner, but the ball crossed to the other end as no one was inside the box to give it the final kick.

Bullets snatched their second goal in the 65th minute. Mulamuleli Managa connected a volley and beat the keeper to complete his brace in the 70th minute.

Lions reduced the margin in the 79th minute when Kgamogelo Ramukhufhi scored after he received a pass from Kennedy Mafa. He unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box and beat the Bullets keeper, Zwoluga Mabuda. The last 20 minutes of the game was war between the two teams. Lions threatened to find the net, but the solid defence of their opponents denied them a goal.

Of the two teams it was Vondwe XI Bullets of Vhembe who ended in second position in the mini league and the first position went to Emmanuel FC from Mopani who were promoted to the Safa Limpopo ABC Motsepe League.
