Local cricketers hit for six thanks to donation by Limpopo Impala Cricket

Cricket players from Seshego and Mohodi will be ready to take on the season with their new gear.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo Impala Cricket (LIC) handed cricket equipment and playing kits over to these clubs’ players at the Polokwane Cricket Club on July 30.

Seshego Cricket Club chairperson Sakie Kwakwa said the equipment will enable players at the club to reach their goals.

“We have 25 players at the club and most of them do not have playing equipment. They borrow from their teammates during practice sessions and matches. The donation will help them because one needs proper equipment to play to one’s best. We are grateful to LIC and they should continue with the good work.”

Aubrey Chuene of Mohodi Cricket Club said the playing equipment will motivate players in the club.

“Cricket equipment is expensive and there are a lot of young people in the area who want to play the sport, but they are reluctant due to the cost of the equipment. The equipment will be used by all the young aspiring players at the club.”

LIC CEO Tommy Phiri said the gesture formed part of their efforts of sustaining cricket in the province.

“We want to be a tuck shop for the Proteas and the only way to achieve that goal is to take care of our development clubs. We are hopeful that the kits will inspire the players.”
