Positive mindset to help guide swimmers

The vice president of Limpopo Swimming Aquatics, Rob Anderson, has urged all swimmers in the province to keep a positive mindset about the absence of galas and competitions.

POLOKWANE – The organisation had to cancel two galas that were planned for July and August in Polokwane due to the Covid-19 restrictions.

According to Anderson the galas were meant to prepare the swimmers for the South African Swimming Championship scheduled for later this year in KwaZulu-Natal.

“We know these are difficult times and some swimmers might be depressed or stressed. They must keep training on their own and talk to their families and loved ones if they feel depressed. They must show love and be kind to each other,” Anderson said.

He also added that all swimmers were given individual training programmes to keep fit while they wait for the authorities to give them the green light to resume major competitions.

“We are communicating regularly with the swimmers and the coaches. We want to keep their spirits high and motivated because we believe the virus will subside.”
