Limpopo Sports Confederation Annual Golf Day launched

MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Thandi Moraka launched the Limpopo Sports Confederation Annual Golf Day recently, saying that the event is a good opportunity for young players to develop an interest and nurture their talent in the sport.

POLOKWANE – MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, Thandi Moraka says we need to introduce golf to schools in the remote areas of the province.

Moraka spoke at the launch of the Limpopo Sports Confederation Annual Golf Day in Polokwane last Friday, and said that it is the department’s duty to ensure that all aspiring golfers in underprivileged communities are accommodated and to subdue the myth that golf is a sport for the elite only.

“We are in the advanced stages of the roll-out plan to instil golf programmes at the schools, but we will need everyone’s involvement. To secure our goals, we will be working with the Limpopo Sport Confederation, who will help ensure that these sport programmes are introduced to remote schools,” said Moraka.

She also added that the Limpopo Sport Confederation Annual Golf Day will be a good opportunity for young players to develop an interest and nurture their talent in the sport.

The golf day is scheduled for 22 May at Euphoria Golf and Lifestyle Estate in the Waterberg district.

“Golf events have proven to be immensely successful and fun, generating relationships with partners in the communities. This event will also attribute to the development of golf in the province,” Moraka concluded.

Leaders and members of the business community are expected to tee off alongside professional and amateur players from the province for a fun day of golf.
