New owner: Just what the doctor ordered

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, whose reputation in the leagued was marred by controversies, has been sold to Dr Abram Sello.

LIMPOPO – The Vhembe based team, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM), sold to the Polokwane based doctor, Dr Abram Sello played in the DStv Premiership on Thursday.

The new owner of TTM, Sello, is not new to football and is also the owner of Ollesdas FC, who played in the Safa ABC Motsepe league. The former chairperson of TTM, Masala Mulaudzi, met with the players and management on Monday, 25 January, at the Louis Trichardt show ground to announce the new owner to the team.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed on Thursday that they have approved the application submitted by the Black Gold Trust to transfer TTM ownership to Protoscape 202 CC, owned by Sello.

The conditions imposed by the executive committee included: The contracts of employment of all players are transferred to the purchaser, and any disputes, awards and/or rulings that may exist will be dealt with by the new owners.

The club will relocate their headquarters from Louis Trichardt to Polokwane, but will still play their home games at Thohoyandou Stadium and the Peter Mokaba Stadium until the end of the season.

TTM’s reputation in the league was marred by controversies ranging from unpaid salaries to mismanagement.

Mulaudzi and his family resolved that this was the right time to bow out of the football industry. He apologises to those who are disappointed with the decision to sell the team.

“The challenges we were facing became too much and it ended up ruining my reputation. Football was only a side business, and we realised that it was becoming too much. Perhaps the football business was in trouble because I gave inexperienced people from home too much responsibility to run a football club. We ended up having financial problems, resulting in me using the little savings I reserved for my family. We decided that since the economic constraints due to Covid-19 are affecting everyone, it will be better to step down,” Mulaudzi explained.
